The Johns Hopkins Dementia Care Specialist training program represents a combination of online courses on dementia knowledge and implementing best practices in dementia care. The bundle has two levels:
- Dementia Care Specialist: Basic Dementia Care
- Dementia Care Specialist: Advanced Dementia Care
The program consists of ten learning modules and will take approximately five hours to complete. The courses include a pre- and post-knowledge test and engage learners through videos, realistic problem-based scenarios, case studies, and quiz activities to apply concepts and knowledge learned.
Microcredential
After successfully completing the course, learners will receive a Hopkins Edge Microcredential of Completion from Johns Hopkins University.
Learning Prerequisites
There are no specific course prerequisites. You will need to have English language fluency.
Technical Prerequisites
The course will take place on the Canvas LMS (Canvas.jhu.edu). You will need the ability to log on to the platform, preferably using Google Chrome, to complete the content, which will include videos, readings, and assignments. You may also need to take part in other activities on Canvas.jhu.edu.

Course Lifecycle and Access
After registering, you will receive an email confirming your registration. You will be granted access to the course, which includes complete course information. Please check the course listing for additional information on course access dates. For asynchronous courses, learners will have active access for 180 days after registration.

Refund Policy and Timeline
On-Demand (Self-Paced) Programs
No refunds are available for Online On-Demand/Self-Paced programs after purchase, even if the course content has not been accessed. Because access is granted immediately upon registration, all sales are final.

Accreditation
JHU is not approved by Middle States for direct assessment credentials for academic credit. This course results in a completion microcredential. It will not show on any JHU transcripts and does not count toward an academic record.
